Smart Stars Energy Saving Corporate Social Responsibility Project has received "International Corporate Social Responsibility Award" in 2016 the Junior Chamber International, a global platform with almost quarter million young leaders more than 100 countries.
The 2nd International Corporate Social Responsibility Awards, organized by the JCI Culture Young Leaders and Entrepreneurs Association, are presented to the winners with a ceremony held at the Saint Michel High School. Operating in the housing, energy, cement and foundry sectors, Soyak Holding has received this award once again with its Smart Stars Corporate Social Responsibility Project.
Aiming raising awareness in elementary school students, teachers and parents with educations on energy saving, efficient energy use and sustainable life, the Smart Stars Project has provided a total 110.000 hours of awareness raising activities by reaching out to 29.000 students, 600 educators, and 6.500 parents. 4 awards have been received within 2 years as a result of 17.145 men/hours efforts of a team of 245 people in total, including the Ministry of National Education, District National Education Directorates, Bilgi University and Soyak volunteers.
Addressing a speech at the award ceremony, Soyak Holding Corporate Communication Coordinator Fatma Çelenk stated they are aiming to raise awareness at early ages for energy saving and efficient energy use, and said, "We provided educations on efficient use of energy and saving to 4th grade students at the state schools with our Smart Stars energy efficiency corporate social responsibility project. We aimed raising awareness on the topic by organizing seminars and events not only for the children, but also for their parents. As a result of the measurement we made after the project, we've seen that a positive change of 18% is available in the elementary school students on energy saving. This award is an indicator that we are on the right path."
Çelenk highlighted that energy efficiency is of critical importance for the country's economy and continued, "We are endeavoring for doing our part with our approach on producing, developing and protecting for our country in every field we are operating in, and we believe it is very important to contribute to a sustainable life by structuring our efforts accordingly."
Previously, Smart Stars Project has received "Grand Award in Corporate Social Responsibility Solution of the Year" from CSR Europe and "Environmental Best Solution in Social Responsibility Solution" from CSR Turkey in 2014. In "Sign of the City Awards" organized by Hürriyet for encouraging the best in the construction and real estate industry, the project has received "Best Social Responsibility Project" award in 2015. And the project has received "International Corporate Social Responsibility Award" in 2016 from the Junior Chamber International, a global platform with almost quarter million young leaders from more than 100 countries, thus collected 4 awards in 2 years.
